AHHA Sr. Vice President announces retirement after a lifetime of service in healthcare.
After over 14 years of dedicated service at AHHA, Jeannie Monk is retiring at the end of the year to enjoy more time with her family and to pursue personal interests in mosaic art, travel, and outdoors activities.
Jeannie has played a key role on AHHA's team, achieving significant policy victories over the years that have benefited Alaska’s most vulnerable residents. She has secured millions of dollars to ensure our members can deliver the highest quality of care. She has spearheaded initiatives to strengthen Alaska’s healthcare workforce, supporting birthing hospitals and obstetric teams to improve maternity care, and bolstering quality and patient safety with a focus on rural communities.
Throughout her time at AHHA, Jeannie has tirelessly advocated for better access to healthcare and improving coordinated care for the benefit of patients. Her visionary leadership has guided us strategically to where we are today through mentoring our team and building relationships with partnering agencies.
Jeannie’s commitment to improving the lives of others began nearly four decades ago with her service in Sierra Leone West Africa as a community health worker Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to joining AHHA, Jeannie served as the planning and development director for SEARHC and was instrumental in obtaining funds to improve the health of communities in southeast Alaska. In 2019, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health recognized Jeannie as a “Community Star” for her generosity, service, and dedication to the health and well-being of those who call rural America home.
Please join us as we congratulate Jeannie on a well-earned retirement and celebrate her achievements during our annual conference in September.
